Taiwanese tennis player Lu Yen-hsun says he does not expect a foot injury to affect his performance at upcoming tournaments in the United States.
Lu arrived in Washington DC Friday afternoon for the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, a late-summer tournament on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour.
Before arriving in the United States, Lu was in Germany for an intensive ten-day training regimen. Lu's official website said that he sustained a foot injury during the training.
However, Lu said he still hopes that he can play well at the Legg Mason Classic. Lu's first match of the Legg Mason is on Monday.
Lu said his main focus in the near future is still the US Open -- the final grand slam of the season to be held at the end of August in New York.
Lu shot to international fame earlier this year when he became the first Asian tennis man to reach the quarterfinals of a grand slam in 15 years. That's when Lu defeated fifth-seed Andy Roddick from the US at Wimbledon.
