Most Taiwan workers oppose workplace "love contracts"

Many British and American companies are starting to ask employees to sign "love contracts" to protect the companies from sexual harassment suits. In fact nearly a quarter of British corporations require their staff to sign documents that regulate office behavior and require disclosure of workplace romances.

But a new survey in Taiwan has found that over 70 percent of respondents oppose such contracts. The poll was conducted by a local employment service provider, 1111 Job Bank, which released the results on Thursday to mark Valentine's Day.

Respondents said they thought the contracts were meaningless and that it was improper to bind relationships with a document.

Just three percent of the 1,400 Taiwanese workers surveyed said their place of employment strictly forbids office romances.
