Today in History

On this day in 1906, Theodore Roosevelt returned to Washington D.C. at the end of a trip to Central America. That trip made him the first US president to travel abroad while in office.

Lebanon gained independence from France on this day in 1941.

And on this day in 1983, a gang of thieves broke into the Brinks-Mat security warehouse at Heathrow Airport, neutralized an alarm system, tied up six guards, and pulled off Britains biggest ever robbery, escaping with 25 million pounds (US$46 million) worth of gold bullion.
