Asian stocks rose for a sixth straight week on Friday, their longest string of weekly gains since a global bull market began a year ago.

Japan's Nikkei share average rose 0.8%. The benchmark Nikkei-225 index rose 80.69 points to 10,824.72.

Hong Kong stocks rose 0.19% Friday in line with regional markets after a rally in the afternoon. The benchmark Hang Seng Index gained 40.15 points higher to end at 21,370.82.

Taiwan's share prices closed higher Friday with the weighted index moving up 11.57 points to close at 7,897.91.
