The UK got into the World Cup semi-finals at World Cup 2018 and the last time was in 1990 and Mr.Andrew Pittam, deputy representative at the British Office, Taipei shared the joy of the British people on the Twitter and at the same time thanked Taiwan for providing the environmentally-friendly textile techniques with the innovative fabric for the Team England jerseys. Taiwan did not compete in the World Cup but had a unique presence because of the football jerseys worn by most of the national players. The jerseys are made from yarn using recycled PET bottles.

 

Taiwan and the UK have had cooperation in various areas including culture, renewable energy, education, technology, etc. Mr.Andrew Pittam said he hopes that Taiwan can import more food and drinks, high-end cars, and pharmaceutical products from the UK. In early August, Taiwan allowed pork from the UK to be sold to the Taiwanese market. Taiwan has the largest consumption meat consumption per capita in Asia.
