The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) says that setting up an oversight mechanism for cross-strait agreements is a priority for this legislative term. That was the word from DPP spokesman Chang Chih-hao on Saturday.
The Sunflower Student Movement, which began three years ago on Saturday, listed the establishment of such a mechanism as one of its demands.
The DPP’s spokesman said there are six versions of draft legislation that could make an oversight mechanism for cross-strait pacts a reality. He said the DPP proposal reflects the government’s position and can meet public expectations about transparency in cross-strait interaction.
The Legislature’s Internal Administration Committee plans to discuss all six proposals on March 22.
