Premier Lin Chuan said on Thursday that the Cabinet will continue to push forward with the reform effort despite resistance.
Lin was speaking at the Cabinet to mark the upcoming one-year anniversary of the Tsai administration. He said the members of the Cabinet has been working very hard to on the reform agenda that focuses on key sectors, such as long term care, renewable energy, pension, infrastructure.
Lin said the Cabinet will carry forward with their effort as long as the reform will benefit the majority of the public. Cabinet spokesperson Hsu Kuo-yung spoke on behalf of Lin.
Hsu said, “Reforms would lead to change in existing habits, system, and might affect the interest of some members of the public. Therefore, it is bound to face some resistance. As long as the direction of the reform is right, we should continue to push it forward with moderation, rationality, and acceptance. We will be firm in our push and won’t back down [from resistance]. Our goal is to move the society forward and to ensure that the momentum of economic development is carried forward.”
Lin has called on the public to support their effort for the betterment of the society as a whole.
