Taipei’s upcoming Universiade student games will provide a platform for sporting stars of tomorrow to shine on the international stage. So it is fitting that the organizers have placed trust in up-and-coming young talent to direct the opening ceremony of the games.
Choreographer Jeff Hsieh, theater director Liao Ruo-han and tech artist Lin Kun-ying have been tapped to oversee three segments of the show. Their pieces will reflect Taiwan’s past, present and future, respectively.
Other stars slated to appear at the opening ceremony on August 19 include dancer Chien Ching-ying, violinist Yu-chien Tseng, singer-songwriter Wang Leehom and indigenous musician Sangpuy.
