The sports administration held a press conference on Friday to highlight some of the international competitions ahead in 2018.
The administration said a total of 105 sporting competitions are scheduled for the year. These notably include the WTA Taiwan Open, a professional indoors women’s tennis tournament in January and the Tour de Taiwan, an annual road cycling race in March. The Asian Men’s Volleyball Cup and the Sumo World Championships will be held in the summer, while the LPGA women’s golf tournament in Taiwan will be held in November.
Sports officials said they hope to keep up the momentum of last year’s Universiade student games in Taipei and create more positive memories for local sports fans.
