Taiwan’s “digital minister,” Audrey Tang, has visited the Vatican, meeting with officials and speaking at a conference on artificial intelligence.
Tang’s visit comes as talks between the Vatican and Beijing raise concerns about the future of the Holy See’s diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
At Saturday’s AI conference, Tang spoke about Taiwanese democracy’s growth to maturity and technology’s contributions to that end.
Tang also took part in the first ever Vatican Hackathon and spoke with officials in charge of refugee affairs.
Tang said she believes that holding substantial dialogue and participating in activities help to strengthen friendships.
