Taiwanese baseball player CC Lee has come home and signed for a local team after playing for 10 years in the United States and Japan.
Baseball pitcher CC Lee has returned to Taiwan and signed for the Chinatrust Brothers, a team in the top tier Chinese Professional Baseball League. At a press conference on Tuesday, he showed off his new number 34 jersey and shared his experiences from a decade of playing abroad.
After an outstanding performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Lee signed for the Cleveland Indians. After a few seasons playing for minor league affiliates, he eventually became the 10th Taiwanese player to play in the Major Leagues. In the follow years, Lee transitioned through several teams, including the LA Dodgers of the MLB as well as the Saitama Seibu Lions in Japan.
Lee said he has learned a lot during the last ten years playing abroad. He says that he has chosen to return to Taiwan to share his experiences with other players, as well as to spend more time with his family.
Lee has signed a three-year contract with the Chinatrust Brothers worth a total of NT$30 million, or US$ 1 million.
