President Tsai Ing-wen has said the new Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation will allow her administration to further promote the New Southbound policy.

The strategy is the Tsai administration’s plan to build closer economic and cultural ties with countries in South and Southeast Asia, as well as with New Zealand and Australia.

At the unveiling ceremony of the new Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation on Wednesday, Tsai said that the foundation serves as an important milestone in the government’s ongoing effort to build closer ties with target nations of the New Southbound policy.

Tsai said it will allow her administration to invest more resources and better implement different strategies, as well as help raise the strategy’s profile in the international community.
