One simple movie starring a cute dog can be enough to get some people in Taiwan to pull out their wallets. But what happens when that animal grows bigger than expected or becomes a burden? Quite often it is released into the streets, left to fend for itself. The government is continually working towards bettering animal welfare and is asking shelters to promote adoption.

In July 22nd's edition of Trends, Jennifer Turek heads to the northern coast of Taiwan to visit an animal sanctuary. She met up with Sean McCormack (pictured left), founder of Taiwan Animal S.O.S., to ask him about what his organization is doing for the animals that can't keep up with human trends.
